So here it is, I have been talking about starting a blog for months. Immediately following the out loud conversation, my inner dialogue lists all the reasons not to bother. Classic middle class life mentality right? Plenty of great ideas rolling around in our minds, steady income, ample ability...just missing that little umph of follow through. They say the rich shoot first and aim later, and it makes sense. If all anyone ever does is come up with great ideas and they never bother to follow up with an action plan and a start button, well then middle class here we stay! No fun at all.
There are billions of people on this planet, there are bound to be a few hundred, thousand, or even million that want what you are selling. Your backyard is as big as the internet! So if you want to teach yoga to a group of vacationers all around the world as you lead the way, than do it. If you want to inspire the masses with new ways of being green or make it easier to find organic goods on line, inspire away. If you want to add your name to the list of the money mentors that are highlighted in books like "Conversations with Millionaires" by Mike Litman and Jason Oman or start your own financial education series like Robert Kiyosaki, go for it! Hell, if you make a mean vegan cake, and you feel that the local farmer's market and the people to attend will feel better if they ate your cakes over store bought ones, then start baking!
Just remember this, the equal and opposite reaction to nothing is....NOTHING! However, if you at least start the ball rolling and put your intention out there, well now the reaction is bound to be something. Big or small, quickly or slowly, random or calculated, 100% guaranteed some sort of equal and opposite reaction. Step out of your box everyone, just try it out and see how it fits. :)

Whoa! Those are some excellent ideas - I never considered that there have to literally be millions of people who would be interested in almost anything original that's created... and since there's only one of me or you in the world, what either of us creates will have to be original, right?
ReplyDeleteAmen! My book just came out and I'm certainly glad I took the action but I do sort of feel like I shot first and now I'm aiming later. We'll see where this goes!
ReplyDeleteGood stuff! Very inspirational, keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR COMMENTS!
ReplyDeleteI love my family. I am blessed to have an amazing brother with a wonderful wife a beautiful daughter and sweet puppy. These are my current roommates. Don't get me wrong I have an awesome mother, father, and older sister with her incredible husband and beautiful miracle daughter....but for now I want to focus on my roommates.
I have moved around ALOT. Those of ya'll who know me know I have basically lived in almost every state, and have officially now visited every single one. As I get older and embrace the adventure of who I am, who I have been, and who I will be, I realize the importance of family. Say whatever you would like about them, they are the mirrors of your life and what you have been through to get to today. I have not lived near any of my family in over 10 years and now at 32 I realize how much I had been longing for that connection.
I have been a business owner, a bartender, a college kid, a counselor, a soccer coach, a massage therapist, even an ice cream maker, but most importantly a sister, a daughter, a granddaughter, a niece, an aunt, and a sister-in-law. Now don't put these statements into a box and leave them there. Family can extend to friends, strangers, humankind in general. I just want to remember to always appreciate the connection.
My roomies are currently reminding me how amazingly powerful love is. Life will give you ups and downs, what you do with them is where you hold the control. I have had a consistent run of downs in the last few years so I had a choice of what I was going to do with those. Continue the poor me story we all so easily fall into, or change my reality. Let me tell you, there is no way you could possibly focus on the negatives in life if you have a 5 year old and 12 week old puppy in your life! My family became my roommates at a time that I was no longer willing to hold a negative perspective towards my goals in life.
Now the sky is the limit with what I can accomplish. Purely because I made the move to surround myself with positivity, encouragement, and support.....and great food :)
